There are not too many things more emotionally significant in this life than being seen and understood by another person. This happens everyday in individual counseling, but it multiplied exponentially when
experienced in a group.
Each group is led by one of our therapists and members will walk away with tools and strategies specific to the struggles they face, and also a realization that they are truly not alone in the battle.
There is safety in numbers, and sometimes there is also healing in numbers. As humans, we share traumatic experiences and feelings that can make us feel isolated and alone. Group therapy is designed to lend support by talking with others in a group setting and finding strength and support from those around you. Sometimes group therapy is more beneficial than individual therapy because the group acts as a sounding board and network, diffusing those feelings of loneliness. In group therapy, the other members of the group can provide a different perspective and suggest various coping skills to improve one’s life challenges. They also help to hold people accountable for their feelings, emotions, behaviors, and reactions.
All of us experience conflict, trials, and tribulations, but it is what we choose to do with those situations that make the difference. When you are given a safe space to openly discuss how you feel, it can help to ease the burden of your wounds and traumas.
As humans, we also often come to a situation or experience with a set of predetermined notions or perspectives. A group setting allows us to gain insight into what others think and how they would react. A group of peers can often help to validate what an individual is thinking, and there is great healing in feeling heard and understood.
Receiving a health diagnosis like breast cancer can be a lonely and scary experience. Coming together in community with others walking through similar struggles can be an integral part of the healing process. Come connect, process, and learn strategies on how to cope, communicate, and trust the process.
Setting an example in the community comes with a heavy responsibility, as does leading it. We provide a safe space to express feelings and lean on one another for support.
The teenage years are difficult enough without the stress of being held to a higher standard in the community. We offer a non-judgmental space to give and receive support.
